What to do in the summertime...

Summer in Mazama

Summer in the Methow…Perhaps our favorite words in the English language…there are so many things to do, we couldn't even begin to tell you all of them, but here are a few of our favorites.  If you want to stay right in Mazama, you can just take long walks around the ranch, swim in one of our favorite swimming holes across the street and then go have a cookie or a Husky ice cream at the Mazama Store. If you need a little more challenge, then hike one of the many beautiful trails like Maple Pass, Cutthroat Lake or hike up to see wild Bill Austin at the Goat Peak fire look out tower which is very entertaining. The list goes on and on so please explore our exceptional region and have one of our many outfitters guide you around our backyard.

Horseback riding

Horseback Riding
Take your horses on a long, leisurely trail ride off into the mountains and forests that surround us. Ride in the arena and practice your horse skills. Or take a Parelli Horse Clinic with our local horse whisperer,  Marc Rea.

Mountain biking

Mountain Biking

Mountain Bike riding in the Methow Valley is unlimited. Ride to Cutthroat Pass, try the West Fork of the Methow Trail, Buck Mountain or go right out our door on the Methow Valley Community Trail.  For rentals or trail information contact Methow Cycle and Sport or Winthrop Mountain Sports.

Rafting   Rafting
Take a whitewater rafting tour or kayak tour with Methow River Raft & Kayak down the unforgettable Methow River. They also offer river tubing between Winthrop & Twisp..

Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing
Jump on the river and try some flyfishing. If you'd like some instruction, guided tours, or equipment rentals, just call the guys at North Cascades Fly Fishing. They can set you up with a guided trip, give you expert instruction and get you the gear you need too!

Dining   Dining

Enjoy a country style dinner right next door at the Mazama Country Inn or walk a mile on a beautiful trail to The Freestone Inn for a gourmet dinner and watch fisherman while you dine. If Espresso, baked goods and ice cream are more your diet, walk next door to the Mazama Store. And if you don’t want to leave, bring a steak and barbecue it right on the barbie in our front yard.

Of course, summer is the season of music here in the Methow, and you may want to plan your trip around one of our outstanding music festivals… the Methow Music Festival, the Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival, or more informal, the 49er Days Street Dance.
