MRH HAPPENINGS...
Spring Fever is a common disease all of us here at the Mazama Ranch House develop this time of the year. The snow is just about gone, the flowers are popping up around our hot tub and there are flocks of blue birds racing around. We are surrounded by snow capped peaks up high, budding trees and flowers in every direction and sounds of rushing rivers. We love spring and summer here and it’s a time of the year where we get distracted and have a hard time focusing on getting our ranch ready for all our guests and friends. But, there is an old time saying around here that one must make hay while the sunshine’s and that depends on how you interpret that. In Mazama that means from sunrise until sunset we will be out making our ranch beautiful for our guests but then we will get distracted with hiking, biking, horseback riding, fly fishing and just plain wandering every hillside as far as you can see. As you know the mountain biking here is fantastic, you won’t see a person as you hike on the trails on the National Forest and you can step off our deck and saddle your house and ride to town on a beautiful trail. All our valley floor trails are set aside by our community members who cherish recreation and open spaces. The folks who maintain these trails are outdoor nazi’s and perfectionists in trail grooming. Check out their site for all summer events. MVSTA.
We are writing today, to remind all our past guests and friends to put the Mazama Ranch House on your calendar this spring and summer for a family getaway. We know that daily the economic news is not great but just remember that once you get here, the great outdoors is free! To bring back some fond memories of us, we would like to remind you how peaceful our setting is. The Mazama Ranch House is surrounded by green meadows, Goat Wall looms over head, wildlife wanders through the property, there is that distinct smell of Ponderosa pines in the air and the sunshines 24-7. We can’t let you forget our neighbor the Mazama store with its scrumptious selection of coffees, baked goods, soups and sandwiches. One needs many calories to go from sunrise to sunset! And the Freestone Inn, one mile up the road is open again serving gourmet food daily for all of us who need once in awhile, a big night out. Check it out, one night while you are here.
Ok, can you tell we love this place? We just have this human urge to share with you our beautiful property and the valleys best kept secrets. The ranch has a variety of accommodations with a large ranch house that is a 5 bedroom, completely furnished place with everything you need. Our suite size rooms have full baths, kitchenettes, down comforters, local coffee and big decks where one can take in all the views of the ranch. We have a trail side hot tub and barbecues stationed all around to complete that ranch dream of throwing a big steak on the barbie. The longhorn cabin is a one room cabin with a loft and is a completely furnished unit with a wood stove. Last year we refurbished an old mining building on our property and we now have a gathering place for guests to sit and play a board game or even watch a game on a big screen tv. For the horse enthusiasts, one would say that we are a horse hotel. We have many corrals for you to board your horse, we have water and hay available too.
Hope to see you this spring and summer, stop to smell the roses in Mazama and remember how rejuvenating vacations can be. Our website is www.mazamaranchouse.com and please add us to your favorites toolbar.

MAZAMA STORE, FRIDAY NIGHT
TAKE&BAKE
Every Friday night the Mazama store will be making their world class pizzas with locally grown produce and named after some of our local hot spots. If your coming in that night, call ahead order a Sandy Butte sausage, a greek goat or the yummy serendipidis serena and then go sit on our deck and unwind with a slice and a local brew. We are becoming so uptown! |

FAVORITE HIKE
The Maple Pass Loop is by far one my favorite hikes in the North Cascades. Every year we do our ritual hike to the Pass and it always seems like we have never done it before. Its our European Alp fix without the airfare. Go to the Rainey Pass trailhead where you will see signs directing you to either Lake Ann or Rainey Lake. I prefer to do this hike from the Rainey Lake side for you get a roundtrip hike in that takes you up to the pass, across a beautiful scenic ridge toHeather Pass and right by Lake Anne on the way out. On this hike you will see old growth forests, views of greenish blue lakes, wildflowers, snow covered peaks and even a waterfall or two. The hike is 7 miles roundtrip, the elevation gain is 2100ft to 7000ft and it is a perfect day hike to do from Mazama. Don't forget to pack a big lunch from the Mazama Store for you will want to hang out at the top forever, for its a splendid site. A Northwest Forest Pass is required for parking. |
